About Dr. Charlene Henderson

I am from Newfoundland Canada where I received my Biology Degree in 1992. I then graduated from The Illinois College of Optometry in 1996. I received an award for clinical excellence. I have practiced in various settings, with ophthalmology and optometry. I am married with twin boys that are now 17. When they started kindergarten, I opened my own practice, Blink Eyecare, with my partner, Dr. Tracy MacIntyre. I enjoy spending time with my patients and getting to know them and their families. In our office we can go beyond just correcting your vision. We work on goals, and habits to keep your eyes healthy and prevent disease.

I practice myopia management to prevent today's myopic kids from being tomorrow's retinal detachment or glaucoma patients. My own brother is very near sighted and has had 3 retinal detachments and now has glaucoma. I want to keep my patients from having these issues as much as possible. The best way is to slow down this myopic progression. I tell my patients that they are helping their future selves and they should be proud of that.
